A cheeky 26-year-old man, from Minneapolis, US, posted pictures of his dining room table and four chairs on the dating app Hinge in a bid to sell his unwanted items, rather than bagging a date

A man who cheekily used the Hinge app to try and sell furniture instead of bagging potential dates has gone viral.

Jacob, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, US, had a photograph of his dining room table and four chairs on his profile on the dating app.

His bizarre antics have apparently left potential partners stunned.

He posted on the dating app: "This year I really want to…sell my table" and also had snaps of a futon sofa bed and a shelf unit on there too.

Jacob, who has on his profile he is 26-years-old and is 6ft 1in tall - added: "I feel most supported when…I sit on this futon."

One eagle-eyed woman - called Natalie - spotted the bizarre photos.

The wooden shelf was listed for $10, she said: "Oh this is new" in a tweet that has gone viral three million views and 69,600 likes.

Laura Burnzy said: "I cannot stress this enough. Better than some of the men I’ve seen out there."

Emily Silver joked: "Haha Hinge is now Craigslist!"

Alex said: "I got banned from Tinder for doing this exact thing."

Hannah added "I like this a lot."

Kahina agreed, adding: "I respect it."

One woman - named Jordan - had messaged him about buying the shelf also listed on Facebook Marketplace.

She said: "Shut up, is that why I didn't get the shelf."

Jordan has messaged Jacob saying: "Hi, Would you accept $15 for this? "I could come pick it up today or tomorrow if so, thanks."

But he said: "Just sold it, sorry."

The post comes after a jealous woman allegedly hired a hitman to kill the new wife of a man she just met on internet dating site Match.com.

Melody Sasser, 47, from Tennessee, US, was arrested on May 18 after she allegedly tracked her love rival Jennifer Wallace using a fitness app and is accused of sending $10,000 in bitcoin to a site named "Online Killers Market" in exchange for her murder.

The suspect, who works for the US Department of Energy, met David Wallace on Match.com and the pair had become hiking friends.

But when he revealed he was moving to another state with the woman he had planned to marry, she allegedly turned to the dark web, according to the complaint.

Under the pseudonym, "cattree", Ms Sasser allegedly posted her hitman demands on the website in January and reportedly wrote: "It needs to seem random or accident. Or plant drugs, do not want a long investigation".

She even turned up to the home of the couple unannounced in Alabama in late 2022, according to the complaint.

Ms Sasser was arrested on probable cause that she allegedly attempted to hire a hitman to commit murder.

She is due in court on Thursday.
