Everything Included In The Sims 4 Book Nook Kit
Calling all book nerds!
You know that scene from Beauty and the Beast where Belle is flying through her new library on the ladder, lovingly gazing at the books surrounding her? It is every book lover's dream to have a similar dedicated space for their beloved books. Towering wooden shelves filled with the classics, perfect mood lighting, and extra comfy seating to spend hours reading in. And if you can't have it, you can at least make it for your Sims in The Sims 4.

Kits for The Sims 4 usually feature a relatively small number of items for a less-than-usual price that follow a more exact theme than other packs. The Book Nook kit comes complete with the perfect elements to create your ideal reading space for your Sim. While the kit doesn't come with an overwhelming amount of items, it does have stand-out feature items that have introduced a new building element into the game.
There are three lighting options included in the pack to set the mood in your book nook. A minimalist standing lamp--reminiscent of mid-century modern style--with a globular bulb, and a matching desk lamp that has a futuristic feel. The third is a small candle attached to a vase of flowers; a mixture of decorative and functional.
Like all lighting options in the Sims, you can adjust the color and intensity of your lamps to find your perfect vibe. If you didn't know you could adjust your lights, all you need to do is select the light in live mode and the menu with the option will appear.
If there's one thing a book nook needs, it's books. Luckily, there are plenty of book-centric items to decorate the space with. There is, of course, a tall stack of books for what couldn't fit on the shelves. The reading tray is perfect for placing anywhere in the house like the living room or even the bathroom, if your Sim is an on-the-go reader.
There's a row of books that are encased by a set of beautiful bookends, as well as some books on a floating shelf that have an open slot for a small object. There is also a house-shaped book rest with a book sitting on top like a literary roof.
One of the best parts of any room is the little details, and this kit provides eight decorative objects to put those finishing touches on your room. There is a new rug with a few swatches, a poster with a wooden frame to match the bookshelves, and an interesting metal box object.
The poster features different cover art from Sim books. While you might not recognize them from your Sim's library, you'll see these covers repeated on objects in the kit such as the book stack and the book that is stored in the metal box. And book nooks aren't exclusive to your Sims home! You can use the shelves to create community lots like bookstores or libraries.
Excluding the bookshelves and the seating options, there are two other wooden furniture objects: an end table and a coffee table. Of course, both come complete with some books hidden on their shelves, adding a nice detail to make these pieces unique.

There are five wooden swatches (white, tan, brown, dark brown, and black) available for all furniture, so there is no need to worry about mismatched wood tones in your space. For the books (the ones on the tables and the ones on the shelves) each wood tone has one or more options for the colors of the spines, allowing you to avoid too much repetition and make the room feel more realistic.
No book nook is complete without some comfy seating to enjoy your stories on. This kit comes with three new seating options, giving you the opportunity for customization and your Sim plenty of places to sit. There is a full three-Sim couch, a loveseat, and a chair included.
Each piece comes with the same wood tones and similar color options--down to the pillows--in order to create a perfect cohesive room. The longer couch has the most limited color palette, only having more neutral and monochrome shades, but the chair and the loveseat offer more colorful options to pair with the books. To make up for it: the blanket on the long couch can match the rug!
The most exciting feature in this kit is, of course, the shelves. In the modular style that was introduced with Dream Home Decorator, the bookshelves in this kit range in size (one shelf, two shelves, and four) allowing you to stack them together in an endless number of creative ways. But take note: the bookshelves are only functional when attached to a standard wall height. No free-range shelves or half walls are allowed.
Each of the three sizes then has a full or empty option, the empty spaces having open slots for you to place whatever clutter item you'd like. The customization available for these shelves will allow you to create an entirely unique book nook for every Sim's home, in nearly any style imaginable.
